Faith, Science and Sexuality Conference on December 8th 2018 at St John’s Church, Waterloo
The conference was hosted by David Ison, Dean of St Paul’s, and featured a strong line up of academics and leading LGBTI voices. It’s aim was to help equip people with “the most up to date facts” on sexuality and gender issues, and try to dispel a lot of the “fake news” that has surrounded this area. We hope it was of interest to all, especially those who are keen to share how much the scientific and medical professions now know about what it is to be human, and that we are not just “binary beings”. Whilst tickets cost £20, we don’t want the entry price to be a barrier to anyone and encourage people to get in touch directly with us if they require a cheaper rate. SIBYLS REFLECTIVE DAY AT THE SISTERS OF ST ANDREW, LEWISHAM 10TH NOVEMBER 2018
MY PEACE I GIVE YOU
WE REGRET THAT THIS MEETING WAS CANCELLED
The sessions will be facilitated by the Revd. Simon Buckley Rector, St Anne’s Dean Street Soho London
Peace, Shalom comes from the root verb shalam, meaning “to be complete, perfect, and full.” Shalom is much more than the absence of war and conflict; it is the wholeness that the entire human race seeks. During the course of the day we will reflect on this Peace, what it means for us, what it means for others, and finding the peace which allows us to be instruments of God’s Love

SIBYLS HILFIELD WEEKEND 21-23 SEPTEMBER 2018 At the Society of St Francis Hilfield Dorset
WE ARE ALL GOD'S PEOPLE
BOOK NOW!
Paul, in Galatians 3:28 said “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus”. There have been many advances in the recognition and acceptance of transgender people in society and in the Church, however there have also been backlashes, which include those groups who would wish to deny children the opportunity to explore their identities and other groups who may misinterpret our personal searches for identity as the pursuit of sexual misuse or for the power over women instead.
As these public perceptions and misperceptions increase these issues become of increasing concern. This purpose of this Sibyls weekend is not to create plans or agendas but to reflect biblically and socially on Paul’s statement in Galatians 3:28. As always the primary purpose of these weekends is to meet, build friendships, relax, hear from and support each other, so plenty of time for this is provided. We will be joined by the Revd. Colin Coward, former director of “Changing Attitude”. Also members of the Hilfield Franciscan Community will be invited to contribute. What does it mean when we say “We are all God’s people”? What does it mean to simply be able to be ourselves?
PLEASE JOIN THE SIBYLS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME |

Greenbelt 2018 Acts of the Imagination Common Good Boughton House near Kettering 24-27 August 2018
Come and visit us at Greenbelt 2018. If you would like to volunteer to help manage the stand we share please email us at sibylslink@gmail.com
Engaged with culture, inspired by the arts, sustained by faith, Grenbelt aspires to be an open generous community re-imagining the Christian narrative for the present moment. Its mission is to create spaces, like festivals, where art, faith and justice collide. Where artistry and activism, spirituality and politics, faith and justice are held together.
Greenbelt saw its first edition way back in 1974 and has hosted its annual festival every single year since. But thinking of Greenbelt as just another ‘festival’ doesn’t do it justice. It is also an idea, a way of seeing, a gathering of the clans – part movement, part moment. Its genius is that it defies easy description.
You have to be there! |
LONDON PRIDE 2018
Dear Friends, As most of you are all aware, London Pride 2018 will soon be upon us all (7 July), breakfast will most probably be around 10am start, to give time for those who are on the parade to get to the meeting point for 12pm.
We here again at St Anne’s, are offering a Pride Prayer Breakfast, with coffee tea, fresh fruit and croissant, a pain au chocolat too and maybe even a bacon sarnie if the Churchwarden can cope with the cooking!
Anyway you and the groups that you all represent are most welcome to join us for a prayer and some breakfast before we all head off for the parade.
What I need now is a definitive yes, no or possibly even a maybe (at a stretch) and I need this by MONDAY 30th APRIL, so you all have plenty of time to discuss this with your groups. Kind regards,
Mark Godfrey Churchwarden St. Anne’s Church St Anne with St.Thomas & St. Peter 55 Dean Street Soho London W1D 6AF

17 May 2014 10:30-16:00 : Workshop: "LIVING IN PROPHETIC HOPE" CHANGING ATTITUDE GREATER LONDON EVENT ST MARTIN-IN-THE-FIELDS LONDON WC2N 4JJ
This workshop prayed through and with the stories of individuals who have tapped into prophetic hope in the midst of homophobic oppression. It focussed on the story of the martyred Ugandan organizer David Kato, who, with his religious and secular friends, resisted the anti-gay witch-hunts in his own country; and it focussed on the stories of local panelists from Africa and Britain, who have fought for LGBTI and immigrant justice here in London. Through discussion, reflection, and prayer, we hope to discover the ways that God is stirring up prophetic hope in our own lives.

6 February 2010 10:00-16:30: Event: "SEXUALITY AND HUMAN FLOURSHING".
Sexuality and Human Flourishing
A Day Conference to explore and celebrate our relationship with God, with each other, and with our inner selves Saturday February 6th 2010 10.00 am – 4.30 pm Church of the Ascension, Stirchley, Birmingham
Click Here for the Full Proceedings

Keynote speakers:
Arnold Browne The Scriptures and Sexual Diversity Alison Webster Sexual Diversity and the Human Journey
The aim of this conference was to create a safe and holy space in which we can explore the themes of human sexuality, faith, and relationships, through listening, reflection and discussion. What is it about our sexuality that informs and expresses the nature of our humanity and our relationship with God?
At a time when the Church is deeply divided on the issue, many of us find this question perplexing, in the light of our own experiences, and of those whom we know.
Arnold Browne, the former Dean of Trinity College Cambridge, has a special interest in the use and abuse of the Bible and in counselling psychology. He has contributed chapters to Sex and the Christian Tradition (ed. Jeremy Morris) and to An Acceptable Sacrifice? Homosexuality and the Church (eds. Duncan Dormer and Jeremy Morris)
Alison Webster is Social Responsibility Adviser for the Anglican Diocese of Oxford, and has a longstanding interest in identity issues, particularly gender, race, sexuality and disability. She is the author of Wellbeing (SCM 2002), and You are mine (SPCK 2009), an in-depth study of the formation of identity
This conference was organized by members of The Centre for the Study of Christianity and Sexuality, Inclusive Church, Changing Attitude, LGCM, The Sibyls, and Church members in Norwich and Birmingham
