Another New Book for the Sibyls and their supporters.
There remains a lack of knowledge and understanding about trans people in the church, and how we, as trans people who are religious, can experience bias in our faith communities. With the help of their many years of experience working with trans people negotiating their relationships with religious institutions, the authors (one of whom is trans) have created this accessible, valuable guide that will educate and improve churches' relationship with trans people. Combining first-hand interviews, Chris and Tina’s own experiences and scripture analysis, this thought-provoking guide uses this combination of ancient and contemporary stories to outline a theology that welcomes and includes all people whatever their gender identity or sexual orientation. Written from this inclusive Christian perspective, the book answers questions about trans people that are specific to church communities.
The book is available from all good booksellers. Please buy the book, share with others and encourage others to buy the book.
This is the third book in a series. Click on the button below for information on all three books

LOVE'S CONSTANCY AND LEGAL NICETIES: TRANSGENDER PERSPECTIVES ON MARRIAGE. REVD. TINA BEARDSLEY AND SUSAN GILCHRIST
This paper was presented at the conference "TO HAVE AND TO HOLD - THE THEOLOGY OF MARRIAGE". SATURDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER 2014 AT ST JOHN'S WATERLOO
The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 has eliminated the need for a couple to divorce when one of them transitions, but has raised other problems, particularly the requirement of spousal consent to Gender Recognition, and the backdating of pension rights.
This experiential workshop reflected theologically on marriage in the light of these and other realities of trans people’s lives and relationships. It was led by two trans people, Susan Gilchrist and Tina Beardsley, who are both members of the Sibyls, and have each been with their partner for over four decades. Both are married to their partner: one for the whole of that time, the other following transition.
This event has been held
A weekend specifically for couples for whom at least one partner is a member of the Sibyls is being planned. This is intended to help couples work through these issues together. For more information email
